Cub Scouting with Pack 28

Our Pack consists of boys and their families from northern Cecil County and southern Chester County, Pennsylvania. We are a chartered organization of the American Legion Post 194 of Rising Sun, Maryland.

Our pack is part of the Octoraro District of the Chester County Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Cub Scouting is a year-round program designed for boys entering Kindergarten through 5th grade. We hold weekly den meetings, except for Lion's they meet twice a month, from September through June and monthly trips and activities through the summer months.

The program offers fun and challenging activities that promote character development, citizenship training and physical fitness.

Boys begin as Lion Cub in the first grade, then Tiger Cubs in the first grade, then move into the Wolf and Bear Cub Scout programs during the second and third grades and Webelo Scouts while in fourth and fifth grade.

Scouts are grouped into dens by grade and meet once per week for the first three weeks of the month. The last week of the month all the dens come together at the monthly pack meeting to be presented with their awards.

At pack and den meetings, boys participate in games, educational activities and group recognition. The Pack participates in frequent field trips to various places of interest, in addition to camps and other scout gatherings.

Cub Master Message

February Theme: Cheerful

“Everybody loves a good magic trick. But magic doesn’t always need a poof of smoke or a fancy cape. Magic exists all around us in the simplest miracles of our world. A tiny bud sprouting through the earth, a toddler taking his first steps, a hug to cheer up a friend, or a beautiful sunset lighting up the sky—these are the everyday moments of magic that are so easy to miss. So let’s leave today’s meeting with the goal of noticing moments of magic every day.”
